I was convinced by Bill Jackson's, in Tampa, to buy the C-TUG. Well worth every penny and 3 of the group that I was paddling with went and bought the same cart. I had a problem with the straps and called Peter at C-TUG directly and what a gem he is - patience, quality service and follow up is what we miss in America today. Take a lesson from the "KIWI" (New Zealand) service and approachability. Thank you Peter, Bill Jackson and C-TUG.

The honking canoe we have (at least 180 lbs) is not match for the C-TUG. Thought it would be crushed under the weight but it keeps on truckin' good product guys!

I use a c-tug and like it much. It fits in the front hatch of my Kodiak on day trips and on the back deck when going further afield. Easy to assemble and break down, doesn't look like there is much that can go wrong with it. Not the smallest but very robust and looks like it will serve me well for a while. Many of the teams on the AR World Championships used them and rated them highly.

Hi C-tug a well thought out concept almost perfect. Unfortunately I used it only once for portaging and the little kick stand broke off. I also think the buckle for securing and tightening is not very good the grip slipped when pulling up hill I had to adjust and tighten it two or three times. I returned it for a full refund today.

C-TUG responds:

KICKSTANDS - The kickstand breaking is unfortunate and it has been replaced which is part of our lifetime warranty.

STRAPPING SYSTEM
- The strapping system when used properly is excellent - all we can do is encourage users to "read the instructions" particularly the strapping of the cart to the watercraft - we enlarged it so it would be easier to find.

To the folks at C-Tug. Just wanted to let you know that you have hit the nail pretty much on the head with your cart. It has now done 50 kms at least with a near full load and there has been no issues. It is incredible! The designer needs to design other stuff because it has made Canoe carts "intelligent". Thanks to the staff at Valhalla for your assistance and advice in pointing me to the c-tug.

At first I thought $150 bucks was a little steep. Took the plunge anyhow. Worth every penny. Have used the cart every weekend and more for 6 months now and its just great. Have at least 5 friends who have bought C-TUG's as a result and everyone is very pleased.

C-TUG North America, your sales service is second to none. Maybe you can teach others how to look after clients. You have patience! If you are ever out this way call me I will be more than pleased to show you around Bar Harbor.

Because my wife pushed her 16' kayak up a 2' sand embankment over exposed tree roots without my assistance with one of these. They're great. TRock

I know some folks have had trouble with these, but so far mine have been great. One wheel was flat(no air in it) when I got it, but a quick trip to the gas station (really recommend an air compressor for this), and a some holding the rim and the tire snug, and I was in business. Tires can be tricky at the beginning, but, with a little perseverance, are great. Why should I persevere with this price tag?

  Hey Guys,
I'm kayaking for a week on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana and I've had a chance to use my new C-Tug cart several times. Super piece of equipment. Easy to break down. Fits in my boat. The only problem I've had is figuring out how to put the straps through the many buckles. My fault because I probably have a special problem, you know following diagrams and instructions. Anyway ... besides the strap problem, great design. Happy trails ...

C-TUG.... Had doubts, sounded to good to be true. Send me a commission, I have sold a least 4 more for you. Best kayak buggy ever.
This is Shelby Bishop, the other owner of Higher Ground.

Amanda told me about your visit, and I want to thank you for visiting and for the C-TUG cart that you left here!  We are trying it out and actually LOVE it!   I also believe its "BOMB PROOF".  We recently had a crazy car accident in our parking lot. In a whirlwind of events a car ran into the kayak out front (it was on the C-TUG cart) and the car picked up the kayak, spun it around and slammed it all into a huge brick pillar out front. The cart came apart and looked like it was destroyed. We simply put it back together and it's as good as new!  CRAZY!!

Thanks again!

Finally got to try a C-Tug for a trip through some pretty rough terrain. Pulled 200 lbs of gear for about 3 miles in each direction without any problem. Broke it down easily and put it in the hatch. Better than my homemade trolleys that I could only strap on to the kayak. No problem in recommending the C-tug to anyone.

Hi Peter, Just wind bound here this afternoon in Belle River on Lake Saint Clair. We have been very impressed with the C-tug. We knew that this section of the coast would bring it's own challenges and one of them is access to campsites. We have endeavored to camp at established parks and private campgrounds which, as it turns out, are often far from the shore and require us to cart all our equipment up to the site. Even if the park is located on the water it can be quite a trek to the gate house to sign in and then to the campsite to set up! We have been able to use the C-tug to bring our canoe and all of our equipment in 'one shot' up from the water to wherever we need to go. Our longest trips so far have been about 1.5km! This would not have been possible without the C-tug.

I am on the whole very pleased with the C-Tug Trolley, It is very quick to assemble and disassemble, once you have done it a couple of times and it takes only 30 seconds to do! It is easy to attach to the kayak and sticks to the bottom of the kayak like glue. When the Kayak is well positioned the trolley takes nearly all the weight and is very easy to pull,, over the following grounds: 1 tarmac 2 grass 3 wet sand 4 rocks Comes apart into nice small stowable sections that fit easily in our oval hatch,My over all impression was the C TUG was very good.

Found no problem with the C-tug over quite rough terrain like going down over broken concrete and 12" drops where the old slip has broken up. Stones, rocks no bother - the clearance is more than I have seen on any other cart - it is deceptive in pictures. I have done a set for comparison of the Eckla and the C-Tug on the same ground - must find out how to put them though, they aren't much good here in my computer! Soft sand I haven't encountered yet - with anything. The ground pressure from the C-tug wheels is less than narrower tires though. The double wheels of the new cart put up the other day needs to be compared to the thick single. If it is the same area then the ground pressure is the same. Perhaps for soft sand areas it would be worth dropping the air pressure a little, that would give you a bigger footprint again - but increase rolling resistance on hard ground. You can't have it both ways!!
I like the look of the c-tug, especially the way the parts reduce to almost no space. It has me thinking of DIY, just not quite so clever!
I've got a c-tug and like it lots, adapts to the shape of all boats, it's very solid I mainly use it for hiking a huge sit-on-top down to the beach in the summer, fully loaded with beach junk for 4. The only thing against it is that once I didn't brush all the sand off the axle when assembling and the nylon axle is now gouged quite noticeably on one side. This was entirely my fault as the instructions do warn about this.
I got lucky, I picked up my 1st Yak (used) last weekend and he thru in one of these. It's great, comes apart or assembles in seconds and doesn't slip off the yak.

Comments: For the owner, inventor or whoever is responsible for the C-TUG Carts;

I bought your cart in July from BC Dive & Kayak in Vancouver, while on my way to Bowron Lake in British Columbia.
The sales person who told us about the C-TUG's explained that they were strong and would be good for long trips between the lakes and would stand up to a reasonable amount of punishment. He did not mislead us - we have done this trip with friends once before and ended up other (unnamed manufacturers) carts falling apart half way through the trip which really pi*&^ed me off. This is the first Kayak Cart that has lived up to its hype. C-TUG is still intact and works as well as the day we purchased it. Kudos to the C-TUG people for finally providing us with great cart. I will spread the word.

Comments: We have a wilderness lodge on the southern tip of Algonquin Park (www.AlgonquinEcoLodge.com) and we get a lot of tourists who want to experience nature and the wilderness, though who may not have a lot of experience. As a result the canoes we use have to be able to withstand "novice abuse", so we have ABS whitewater canoes. These are quite heavy to portage, and even though our guests only need to portage about 200m we received a few complaints about the difficulty. The C-Tug will help solve that problem. I've used it with no difficulty down the portage trail (a logging road). We need to find a better way to secure the trolley to the bottom of the canoe for going over big rocks and tree stumps (put some hooks on the straps I think). But for our inexperienced guests this makes the portage a breeze!
